Touching a Million Hearts

With the growing increase in Cardiovascular diseases, regular comprehensive examination becomes a precautionary tool that helps control such diseases and avoid negative complications as prevention is always better than cure.

The main pumping center
The importance of the heart lies in the fact that it is the main muscle that works as a pump in the human body to distribute blood to the other organs.

Risk factors:
There are a number of risk factors that affect the heart and expose it to different diseases. Some controllable factors are:
  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol addiction
  • Chronic diseases like high blood pressure, high cholesterol levels and diabetes.
  • Lack of physical activity
Family history:
Understanding that family history is one of the key factors that help control many diseases, including cardiovascular diseases. Heredity is one of the key factors that can't be controlled, especially when it comes to first degree relatives.

The initiative:
Reflecting ADGAS concern about the health of its employees, Das Island will witness on December 9, 2014, a campaign themed “Touching a Million Hearts" in collaboration with the Universal Hospital. The event aims at raising employees awareness about the risks of cardiovascular diseases and how to prevent them, thus enhancing the health and welfare of our employees and the community at large.
